LAST WEEKEND saw one of the most significant music events of the year take place in New Ross.
St. Michael’s Theatre provided the venue for the annual ‘Celtic Weave’ concert by the New Ross & District Pipe Band.
However, this time around there was added significance to the event as it was the first time in the band’s history that the concert was performed under the banner of ‘World Champions’.
Notwithstanding the importance of that title the ‘Celtic Weave’ concert is now firmly established as one of the most moving and inspirational music performances on the local entertainment calendar. In August the band captured its first World title and in the interim the members have been working hard on new material – which was showcased during Saturday night’s concert in the theatre.
