Rosslare Europort detector dog, Alfie

DETECTOR DOG Alfie assisted Revenue officers in seizing 31,000 contraband cigarettes at Rosslare Europort in recent days.

The cigarettes, branded ‘Kent’, ‘Marlboro’, ‘Vogue Slims’ and ‘Lucky Strike’, were found in a van arriving into the port from Cherbourg, France.

Some 107 litres of wine, with a retail value of €1,490, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €735, was also discovered concealed in the vehicle.
