Hurling legend signs books in Wexford
THE MOST successful hurling manager of all time was in Wexford this week to sign copies of his autobiography.
Brian Cody led Kilkenny to its fourth all-Ireland senior hurling title in a row this year and, the primary school teacher, has notched up a record seven all-Ireland titles in the last decade.
There were no signs of the traditional rivalry between the Cats and the Yellow Bellies, at the book signing in Byrne’s Bookshop on Saturday, as many fans queued patiently to meet the hurling legend.
Cody’s autobiography, simply entitled Cody, includes a personal diary of the year leading up to this year’s final and gives sports fans an insight into the heart and mind of the most successful team in Ireland.
In the book, Cody reveals the beliefs and philosophies, which have been central to the creation of the most successful GAA team in its 125-year history, and shares the experiences as a player, and a manager, which have helped define him as Ireland’s most successful team boss.
While the book will be of interest to anyone who likes sport, it is certain that rival teams will be studying the book closely to see if Cody’s winning Kilkenny formula can be replicated elsewhere.
