Blessed with its extraordinary staff

A NEW teacher in Gorey Gaelscoil has been commended this week after she was awarded two big awards at her third level college, Laoise Ní Chléirigh, who graduated from Froebel College of Education this year, was awarded a Vere Foster gold medal for receiving the highest marks on teaching practice and for getting the best results overall in the college.

Principal of Gorey Gaelscoil, Aodhagán Swords, told the Gorey Echo: “Laoise is a phenomenal teacher and is a great addition to the school. She is brilliant at teaching drama, physical education and academic subjects.”

Ms. Ní Chléirigh first came to the school to do teaching practice as she wanted to do her work experience in an Irish speaking school but ended up loving it so much, she didn’t want to leave and when a permanent position became available she didn’t hesitate to apply.

Mr. Swords added: “Each one of our staff has a gift. It might not have been recognised by a gold medal, but all of them have something extra and beyond the ordinary. We are blessed.”
