Big night for soccer fan Ryan
SOCCER FAN Ryan Furlong from Clonard had the treat of his life last week when he was chosen as one of the mascots for the Wolves v Liverpool Premier League game at Molineux.
Nine years old Ryan travelled to Wolverhampton, accompanied by his dad Stephen, his uncle, Pat Whelan and several other relations and friends.
On arrival at the ground for the Tuesday night game, Ryan was greeted by club officials and presented with a full Wolves kit.
He then met the players from both teams, including Kevin Doyle who was delighted to see Ryan, as he was the first ever person from Wexford to be chosen as an official Wolves mascot.
Pat Whelan says that it was a fantastic experience for Ryan, who was totallly unfazed, and enjoyed the experience of walking out with the teams in front of the 29,000 sell-out crowd.
The game ended in a 00 draw and no doubt Ryan will have re-lived his great night with his pals in Kennedy Park school on his return.
Ryan was back in action himself on Saturday last when he lined out with his club Wexford Albion in the Under-10 Cup competition.
And the game rounded off a great week for him as he was on the scoresheet twice as his team beat Gorey Celtic.
