WLOS get ready for their big show
WEXFORD LIGHT Opera Society’s rehearsals for their production of The Scarlet Pimpernel will be stepped up over the coming weeks as the cast fine-tune the show for their April run in the Wexford Opera House. The show is set in the times of the French Revolution when aristocrats were beheaded daily.
However, under the guise of the Scarlet Pimpernel, Sir Percy and his band of men set out to rescue the innocent.
The society is confident that The Scarlet Pimpernell will be follow in the footsteps of last year’s sell-out show The Producers, with a mix of romance, comedy and musical highs.
The role of Sir Percy Blakeney alias The Pimpernel will be played by Dublin man Ken O’Regan, who is making his first appearance with WLOS.
Marguerite will be played by Wexford’s Maria Fitzgerald and James McDermott will play the part of Armand. Rebecca Hadrill takes on the role of Marie while Mercier and Coupeau will be played by Mark Ivory and Nicky Kehoe.
Others who will feature include Maurice McCarthy and Michael Dunbar, and ‘the bounders’, supporters of the Pimpernel will be played by Pat Lawlor, Noel Butler, Brian Kelly, Eric Hayes, Brian O’Gorman and Owen Brady.
The role of the French Maids will be played by Catriona Nolan, Susan Pasfield, Joanne Flood, Miriam Mulhall, Lisa Monaghan, Pavalina Krnacora, Emma Ennis and Mags Jacob.
The show will be directed by Ashling Doyle, Musical Director is Fintan Cleary and Chorus Master Eanna McKenna.
