GRANT FUNDING has been awarded to one of the county’s most successful youth initiatives.
The County Wexford Youth Film Project has received grant aid from the Arts Council’s Young Ensembles Scheme. The money will be used to run a unique film-making project for young people this summer called ‘Film Farm’. The project will involve eight teenagers from a farming background along with eight teenagers from an urban background. Together the 16 participants will make films together on a working farm in the county.
Formerly known as Reel New Ross the County Wexford Youth Film Project was started in 2005 by Wexford Co. Council in partnership with St. Michael’s Theatre, New Ross, and the Arts Council. Since its foundation the scheme has helped hundreds of young people from across Co. Wexford gain hands-on experience of the film industry.
Film Farm will take place in Cow House Studios, near Rathnure, from Monday, August 20, to Friday, August 24. The project will run between 10.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.
County Wexford Youth Film Project is now looking for young people aged between 13 and 18 years to participate in Film Farm. There is no charge for taking part but participants will have to make their own way to-and-from the venue each day. To book a place contact St. Michael’s Theatre on 051-421255 or email [email protected].
