THE OFFICIAL launch of a unique new exhibition took place at the Kennedy Park and Arboretum last week.

On Wednesday evening a large crowd gathered at the facility for the launch of the exhibition by Fr. Jim Cogley – titled ‘Healing the Past’.

The exhibition will lead up to an intriguing event on Saturday, September 8, when Fr. Cogley will give a presentation aimed at encouraging people to find peace and inner strength within themselves.

During the forthcoming seminar Fr. Cogley will use wooden symbols and humour as a way of exploring “our inner world” to enable those in attendance get in touch with their true selves.

“It will be about bringing to the light of awareness those issues which still affect our lives and limit our freedom,” said a spokesperson for the Kennedy Park.

Fr. Cogley has a particular interest in how the untold and unacknowledged parts of our personal and ancestral story can still influence us in the present. He is a psychotherapist and woodturner with nearly 30 years experience. He is also the author of several books in the ‘Wood You Believe’ series including: ‘The Unfolding Self’, ‘The Ancestral Self’ and ‘The Twinless Self’. These are available  along with a set of sixty inspirational cards that feature his work.

The works unveiled at the launch on Wednesday night are both thought-provoking and inspirational. The event attracted a crowd of very interested spectators and it’s expected Fr. Cogley’s seminar in September will attract an even bigger number of people for what will surely be one of the most unique displays to go on view in the south east this year.
