THE FORTHCOMING annual Whitechurch Steam Rally promises to be a very colourful affair this year as it will include a newly unveiled mural – specially commissioned for the event.

The mural was unveiled at Seamus Kane’s farm in Whitechurch last week. Mr. Kane provides the land on which the rally is held every year. The painting includes ‘The Kane Book of Whitechurch’. It was created by renowned local artist, Danny Brennan. As well as being an artist Mr. Brennan is also a well known historian and fluent Irish speaker.

The Whitechurch Steam Rally is one of the most popular and well known events of its type in the county and regularly attracts in excess of a thousand people to the area. The organisers of the event are hoping that the inclement weather that has plagued the summer to date will lift; traditionally, the weather has mostly been favourable for the rally which is one of the biggest social events on the local calendar. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Street Children of Bucharest charity which is based in Whitechurch.
