ROSSLARE CUSTOM Services latest canine recruit’s keen sense of smell led to the seizure of €86,400 in cannabis at Rosslare Europort on Thursday.
Officers from Revenue’s Customs Service seized 14.4kg of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €86,400, when they stopped and searched a car that was disembarking a ferry from France at Rosslare Europort. A UK national in his forties was arrested and taken to Wexford Garda Station for questioning and is expected to appear before court shortly in relation to the find.
The seizure was made on foot of routine profiling. Revenue’s sniffer dog, Alfie gave an indication and custom officers scanned the vehicle using the Customs X-Ray Scanner and the drugs were discovered concealed in the vehicle.
