RAMSGRANGE HORTICULTURAL Group made a poignant presentation recently as a tribute to one of its most respected members.
The group presented a rose to Rita Colfer, from Ashgrove, Fethard-on-Sea, whose late husband, Tom, was a very active member of the organisation. Mrs. Colfer was given the rose at the South West Wexford Community Development Project centre in Ramsgrange.
The presentation provided a fitting tribute to Mr. Colfer who loved being involved with the group and who had a keen interest in horticulture.
The group is one of the most active organisations of its type in the south east. It has been in existence for a few years and now has a large number of members, however, as the group Secretary, Mai Cadogan, pointed out to the New Ross Echo, new members are always welcome.
“We are always interested in having new people getting involved,” she said.
“The group is open to everyone in the community regardless of experience or age,” she added.
The group takes part in regular trips and outings which are all based around visiting gardens and general horticulture. The weekly meetings culminate in tea and coffee being served in the centre’s café.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the group or meeting members should go along any Tuesday morning, at 10.30 a.m., to the tunnel at the SWWCDP centre or contact Ms. Cadogan directly on 087-9240330.
