GOREY ATHLETE, Darragh McDonald, who is in training for the London 2012 Paralympics, will be featured in a television documentary, Beyond Limits, on Monday, August 27th at 9.45 p.m. on Setanta Sports.

Beyond Limits tells the stories of elite Irish Paralympic athletes as
they train and prepare for the London next month.
This documentary follows the journey of athletes who have overcome physical barriers to not just compete but win at the highest levels in sport; capturing their personal stories, achievements, courage and hopes for London 2012.
Athletes featured include double world hand cycling champion Mark Rohan, world champion sprinter and second fastest man in Ireland Jason Smyth, Gorey Paralympics swimmer, Darragh McDonald, world champion runner Michael McKillop, boccia player Padraic Moran, para-equestrian rider Helen Kearney, and world tandem cycling champion, Catherine Walsh.
Now 18 years old, Darragh, won a silver medal in the 400 metres freestyle in Beijing in 2008, and is hoping for more success when he competes in three events at London.
His training has been going well in preparation for the 50m, the 100m, and the 400m Freestyle.
In the Paralympics, the events are graded according to disability. Darragh swims in the S6 category.
He is missing part of one arm below the elbow, and both his lower legs, one from above the knee, and one below the knee, but he has never let any of this hold him back.
He began with Courtown Swimming Club, but later moved to Asgard Swimming Club in Arklow, where there was more coaching and training.
His parents, Derek and Caroline, are his leading supporters for London, but the whole sporting nation will be watching with proud as he flies the tricolour in London.
