THE SAD and lonely death of Alan Moore, whose remains were found in his house three months after he is believed to have died, was recalled at an inquest in Wexford recently.

Mr. Moore died aged 61 of a massive heart attack at his home at 53, Lower John St., Wexford on a date unknown, but believed to be around December 28th, 2011. His remains were found on Mother’s Day, March 18th, after a concerned woman noticed Christmas tree lights on through the front window and flies around the entrance to the house. No family members or friends were in attendance at the inquest at the Talbot Hotel.

Speaking at Mr. Moore’s inquest in front of rows of empty seats, Garda Emma Duane said a woman called to Wexford Garda Station on March 18th at 6 p.m., expressing concern about the resident of 53, Lower John St. after she noticed Christmas tree lights on and blue flies around the front window of the house.

Garda Duane called to the house and knocked on the front door but nobody answered. Following house to house enquiries, she discovered that nobody knew the name of the man who lived at 53, Lower John St., Wexford’s smallest house.

“No-one had seen him since December 2011,” she said.

County Coroner Sean Nixon said Mr. Moore had died of a heart attack.
