THE HEALTH Service Executive, (HSE), is offering an eight week parenting course for parents of nine to sixteen year olds in the Gorey area.

Titled “Family Communications & Self Esteem (FCSE)”, it starts on Tuesday, October 9th and finishes on Tuesday, November 27th.

The course runs from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. at the Gorey Community Youth & Childcare, Mary Ward Lane, St. Michael’s Road, Gorey.

Speaking about the course, Nuala Harpur (A/Senior Health Promotion Officer, HSE Wexford) said;

“The aim is to support parents in building good relationships with their children.

This course helps parents look at how they communicate with their children and each other.

Essentially, it supports parents in the good job they are already doing.

It provides parents with an opportunity to talk with other parents.

Good relationships can help prevent problems such as the misuse of drugs and alcohol.

This course is delivered free of charge and the topics covered include: Communication, Self-esteem, Problem solving, Conflict resolution, Peer pressure and Drugs and Alcohol.

The numbers of places are limited to sixteen we would love to hear from people interested in doing it”.

Further information is available on the course through phoning Mary Clancy at the HSE’s Health Promotion Office in Wexford before 5 p.m. on Friday, September 28th at 053 9185784.
