
19 year-old Martin from Caim, who passed away at the weekend
THE FUNERAL of tragic nineteen year-old, Martin O’ Gorman, who died following a two-car collision early Sunday morning, will take place today at noon in St. John the Baptist church, Caim.
Large crowds are expected to turn up and say goodbye to Mr. O’ Gorman, from Ballyhyland, Caim, who crashed into a female driver, Carmel Foley from Killanne, at approximately 2.20 a.m Sunday beside Hennessy’s garage in Rathnure .
Mr. O’ Gorman was taken to Wexford General Hospital, along with his passenger and Ms. Foley, but he was later transferred to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Ms. Foley and Mr. O’Gorman’s passenger escaped the crash with minor injuries.
Described as a ‘likeable lad with a passion of all agricultural machinery and gifted with anything mechanical’, he is survived by his mother Christine, father Patrick and sisters Linda and Lucy.
Seamus Murphy, Principal of Enniscorthy Vocational School, where Mr. O’Gorman was a former student, said the school is in a state of shock.
“We all just can’t believe it. You don’t think something like this will visit you so close to home,” he said.
