THE RESULTS of a unique film project will be unveiled in Rathnure on Saturday, October 13, at 8 p.m.

Cow House Studios, located in the village, will provide the venue for the premiere of County Wexford Youth Film Project’s ‘Film Farm’ initiative.

‘Film Farm’ was a unique filmmaking project funded by the Arts Council’s Young Ensembles Scheme and facilitated by filmmakers Michael Fortune and Terence White. Over a week in August, teenagers from rural and urban backgrounds worked together in Cow House Studios – which is located on a working farm in Rathnure.

The five-day project covered all the key aspects involved in filmmaking: camera operation, scriptwriting, directing, acting-for-screen, storyboarding and post-production. In addition to making short stop-motion animations the participants devised and produced two short films, ‘Rural Living’ and ‘Welcome to the Country’.

‘Rural Living’ is ‘mockumentary’ about a group of teenagers escaping from technology while the second film is a short comedy set in a youth hostel.

Cow House Studios, which is a visual arts workshop, donated the venue for the ‘Film Farm’ course and also for the forthcoming premiere.

As well as the premiere of the short films, a behind-the-scenes film and blooper reel will also be screened on the night. The participants will also be presented with a copy of their films on DVD.

Commenting on the initiative to the New Ross Echo, Project Co-ordinator, Terence White, said: “Film Farm has been a fantastic experience for everyone involved. It was great to see young people from different backgrounds creating short films together and mixing so well. On behalf of the project, I’d like to thank the Arts Council for funding the initiative and Cow House Studios for providing the venue.”

A limited amount of free seats are available for the forthcoming screening. For more information or to reserve seats contact St. Michael’s Theatre on 051-421255
