Wexford’s history-making camogie management team, led by JJ Doyle, resigned on Friday.
The announcement came at a specially convened meeting of the selectors, backroom team, players and County Board executive members at Farmleigh, with many in attendance left “shocked” at the development.
Doyle and fellow selectors Tommy Roche, Joe Brennan, Geraldine Murphy, and much sought after trainer Gerry McQuaid, along with Ger O’Reilly (who served as selector in 2011) presided over an unprecedented period of achievement for Wexford camogie, which was headlined by a three-in-a-row of All-Ireland senior titles, together with All-Ireland intermediate championship honours in 2011.
The process of identifying the new management is already underway, with the County Board extremely anxious not to lose any ground in the bid to keep Wexford at the head of affairs in 2013.
