Jamie Codd and James Smyth were the jockeys in form at the Fairwood, Tinahely, point-to-point held in wet conditions this afternoon, with each registering a double on an 8-race card caused by two ‘divides’.
The maiden race for four year olds and Jamie Codd scored in division two on Four Shuck Men, trained at Moonasotha, Camolin, by J.P. Brennan for a quartet of delighted local owners – Paul Leacy, Larry Kelly, Garry O’Flynn and Eddie O’Connor – and his trainer said he is “stronger and more mature this season and could go for a winners race, a bumper or to the sales.”
Victory number two for Jamie was supplied by Denis Murphy, Blackwater, in the form of Atlantic Ocean, the eight lengths winner in division two of the maiden race for five year old geldings.
Top point-to-pointer Tammy’s Hill, the odds-on favourite at 2/7, won for the fourth time over Fairwood in the Open Lightweight race, initiating a double for the Newry trio of owner Seamus Smyth, his son and jockey, James Smyth, and trainer, Liam Lennon.
“Tammys Hill continue in point-to-points during the autumn and will go to the track in the New Year,” said Liam Lennon. The same team won the ‘older’ maiden race later in the day with Miranour.
A full report and results will appear in ECHOSPORT on Tuesday morning.
