Alec and Louise Lawless sold the winning Lotto ticket for over 7 million Euro from the Boolavogue Post Office.
THE PARISH of Monageer/Boolavogue has a new millionaire in its midst after it was revealed that the winner of Saturday night’s National Lottery jackpot prize of €7.3 million bought their ticket in Boolavogue Post Office.
There was great excitement and a buzz around the village shop, which is owned and run by Alec and Louise Lawless, after the news broke on Sunday morning. The family has run Boolavogue Post Office and shop since 1996 and this is their first big Lotto winner.
Louise Lawless told The Echo that they had received a phone call from the National Lottery at8:20 a.m. that morning to let them know that they had sold the jackpot winning ticket – a €4 Quick Pick.
The news was announced in the local church that same morning by Fr. Michael Byrne and prompted great excitement and curiosity in the village: “I was asked by Louise if I would mention it, just to get people to check their tickets. There’s a great buzz of excitement around the place now.”
