The generosity of two Gorey sisters who participated in the June mini-marathon has resulted in the presentation of a cheque for €7,335 for the Mater Foundation Breast Cancer Appeal.
Josephine Casey, Baker’s Cross, Gorey, together with her sister, Christine Gallagher, attended a presentation to Mary Moorhead, Chief Executive of the Mater Foundation.
The money was raised through Josephine and Christine’s sponsorship at the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon which took place in Dublin on June 4th last.
The funds will be specifically allocated to the the Lymphodema Service at Breast Health Mater, of which Josephine is a patient, and this service is only possible through funding by the Mater Foundation.
“Support for this is invaluable in continuing to ensure that Breast Health Mater is one of the leading providers of breast care in Ireland,” said Mary Moorhead.
