THE WINNERS of the weekend Lotto scoop in Monageer/Boolavogue have released a statement, expressing their joy of the €7.3 million win.
The lucky winners, who wish to remain private, said: “We’re absolutely delighted. This has come completely out of the blue and we are now looking forward to making plans, and helping out family and friends”, over a glass of champagne in the National Lottery offices when collecting their prize today.
They purchased their ticket in the Boolavogue Post Office, on Saturday, and won €7,373,469 from a €4 Quickpick selection with Lotto Plus.
It was the first time a winning jackpot ticket was sold in the store, which has been run by owners Alec and Louise Lawless since 1996.
Mr and Mrs Lawless said they received a phone call from the National Lottery at 8.20 a.m Sunday morning and from that moment the village descended into mass excitement.
To date, Wexford players have won €40,820,347 in National Lottery games, with 53 Lotto wins in the county so far.
The biggest public Lotto win until now was by Larry Ryan in New Ross, who won €5,455,425 in March 2001. Willie Waters, another public Wexford winner, won €2,565,559 in March 1993.
