ONE OF Co. Wexford’s most successful sports stars has been honoured at a civic reception in Aras an Uachtarain.

Catherine O’Neill, who won a silver medal in this year’s London 2012 Paralympic Games, was among those in attendance at a special reception held recently by President Michael D. Higgins.

Catherine and the rest of her Team Ireland colleagues were given the reception in recognition of their remarkable achievements in the games. Catherine was also given a civic reception in her home town following her return from London. However, never one to rest easy she now firmly has her sights fixed on the world championships in 2013 and also has an eye on the next Paralympic Games which will be held in Rio in 2016.

President Higgins congratulated Catherine and the other members of Team Ireland for the exemplary manner with which they represented their country in London. Catherine was accompanied at the ceremony by her biggest fan, her son Calum.
