MARTIN LYNCH, a native of Dublin but residing in Blackwater for the past five years, has taken charge of Wexford’s all-conquering senior camogie outfit in succession to JJ Doyle.

Martin is well-known on the local schools circuit through his work as one of Wexford GAA’s Coaches, while, notably, he was also involved with the Oulart-The Ballagh team that captured the All-Ireland Club senior camogie championship title earlier this year.

He has a well-rounded background in coaching, having spent many years as a coach toRepublic of Ireland international soccer teams, including under-15 and under-16 sides which featured the likes of Robbie Keane, Damien Duff and John O’Shea. Indeed, Martin was the Director of Football for the Dublin Schoolboys League, and during his reign he oversaw a couple of outright victories in the coveted Kennedy Cup under-14 tournament.

When he moved to Ratoath in Meath, Martin got involved in the GAA through the instance of Pat Daly, the Head of Games atCrokePark, and when Martin switched to Wexford he was strongly recommended by Daly to George O’Connor, the Hurling Officer. Martin, who is now a qualified Leinster GAA Tutor, has gone on to work diligently in the schools, and also alongside Eddie ‘Heffo’ Walsh (Faythe Harriers) with various Wexford underage Development Squads, including the under-15 hurlers, who he helped retain the Michael Foley Memorial Tournament crown this year.
