GARDAI ARE looking for a vicious gang which terrorised an elderly man and his son during a robbery at an isolated house near Kildavin.

Four men wearing balaclavas and armed with bolt cutters and a garden hoe burst into the house on November 26 and immediately threatened the 91-year-old man and his 53-year-old son.

Both father and son suffered an horrific ordeal as the gang, who Gardai believe were monitoring the house, ransacked their possessions in their search for money.

Gardai have described the raid as a “serious aggravated robbery” and are anxious to talk to anybody who might have information leading to the thieves arrest.

The gang were forced to subdue the son as they attempted to search him and considerable violence was exerted.

When his sister happened upon the scene and surprised the raiders, she too was detained in the house and her mobile phone removed.

The ordeal lasted ten minutes and a quantity of cash was stolen.
