A LOCAL psychic was among a number of Wexford businesspeople who were named on the Tax Defaulters List for the third quarter of 2013.
€1,325,518 was paid in total by the defaulters following cases by the Revenue Commissioners.
The largest pay out was by farmer John Joseph Murphy of Blackwater who owed €222,197 in tax, with €71,364 in interest and €44,439 in penalties, making a total of €338,000 in an under-declaration of income and Capital Gains Revenue Bogus Accounts tax case.
Angel shop proprietor and psychic Ann O’Connor, of Ann’s Angels, 26, Selskar, Wexford, had to pay €210,565 arising out of an under declaration of income tax, PAYE, PRSI and VAT Revenue Audit case. €106,881 was for tax, €23,523 was for interest and €80,161 was in penalties.
Joseph Peters, 9, Lower Esmonde St., Gorey, had to pay €317,457 in an under declaration of income tax, Capital Gains Tax, PAYE/PRSI and VAT Revenue audit case.
€157,125 was for tax, €52,550 was for interest and €107,782 was in penalties.
Discount store operators Chen & Weng Guofo and Yaming, 5, Main St., Enniscorthy had to pay €44,093 in an under-declaration of VAT and PAYE/PRSI Revenue Audit case.
€28,109 was for tax, €4,471 was in interest and €11,243 was in penalties.
These payments were made between July 1st and September 30th this year.
