ALL BUT one of the nine piglets rescued off of Mount Leinster more than two weeks ago have now been re-homed after South East Animal Rescue received a barrage of emails and calls from animal lovers interested in taking the pets.
“We were inundated with calls for the last two weeks,” said Heather Wall of South East Animal Rescue.
Following various medical checks and neutering, six of the pigs were brought to their new homes last week, with two of the pot-bellied pets going to Gorey’s Wells House. Others will settle down in new homes at Tinnahealy Farm Shop, Poulpeasty, Clonroche, Ballycanew and one will even leave the county for a new pastures in Tipperary.
After nearly three weeks of caring for the piglets, Heather said that the Roche family, who had temporarily adopted the animals and particularly 12-year-old Katie, were sad to see the animals go.
