THERE WAS great excitement in the Workmen’s Club in Mary Street, New Ross, last week for the final of the P.J. Browne snooker final.

The competition attracted a lot of interest from members with very close games contested throughout.

The semi-finals and final proved to be equally as exciting and provided the fitting end to a great tournament.

The final was contested between two of the club’s Junior players: Alan Murray and Dylan Wickham.

“Both players have great futures in the game and with proper coaching they could be very good players in the future,” said a spokesperson for the club.

The referee for the final was Jack Power and the score-keeper was Jordan Kennedy.

The other semi-finalists were Michael Cullen and Declan Ryan. The organisers of the tournament were delighted with the response. They thanked everyone involved in supporting the competition which is one of many tournaments taking place this year in the Workmen’s Club. They also expressed gratitude to Browne’s Photography in Bridge Street for sponsoring the event.
