BK0715-A

A CHEQUE presentation was made to New Ross Hospice Homecare last week.

The money was handed over at Hook Lighthouse Visitor Centre. The funds, €700, were raised during the annual Daisy Day initiative at the lighthouse which took place at the beginning of the year.

Ber O’Brien, from New Ross Hospice Homecare, was in attendance at the Hook to accept the cheque from representatives of Hook Heritage Ltd. including Liam Colfer who is one of the tour guides at the facility.

Ms. O’Brien expressed gratitude to everyone in the centre for their generosity. Words of thanks were also conveyed towards the general public who supported the Daisy Day initiative this year.

Daisy Day is essentially a coffee morning styled initiative which proves very popular with both locals and visitors. An age-old tradition it was revived at the lighthouse last year and involves children from all over the county converging on the site to try and find the first daisy of the New Year.

“We had a super turnout this year,” said a spokesperson for the visitor centre.

“The winner this year was Lauren Ziteisberger,” she added.

Among the other people in attendance at the presentation ceremony were Cllr. Larry O’Brien, who is a Board member at the facility and Ann Somers and Willie Delaney, who are both involved with New Ross Hospice Homecare.
