Wexford’s footballers let a huge 3-3 to 0-1 lead slip as hosts Armagh stormed back to force a 3-8 apiece draw in Saturday night’s re-fixed second round National League Division 2 tie at the floodlit Athletic Grounds.

Goals from Paddy Byrne, captain Redmond Barry (penalty) and Shane Roche within the first 22 minutes set Wexford on course to claim back-to-back opening wins. But an error-ridden second-half display from Wexford was exploited by Armagh, who saw substitute Gavin McParland lead the charge with a hat-trick, including a goal from a dubious penalty.
