LOVERS OF jazz and discerning music fans of all genres are sure to be interested in an upcoming event due to take place in the south east on Sunday, March 3, at 8 p.m.

The Theatre Royal, in Waterford, will provide the venue for a theatrical show chronicling the life and times of Louis Armstrong.

‘Satchmo’, the show, takes its title from Armstrong’s nickname – which was a reference to his large mouth [Satchmo is short for satchel mouth].

The ‘Satchmo’ show received critical acclaim across Europe and the USA and has been staged in some of the world’s foremost venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall.

The show’s line-up includes renowned jazz musicians such as John Trotter (trombone) and Gay McIntyre (clarinet) as well as a highly talented rhythm section.

Tickets to the show are priced €14 and €12 (concession) and a special WIT rate of €10.
