A SOCCER club from the New Ross district which this year is celebrating its 40th anniversary will be at the centre of a commemorative book launch on Saturday, March 9, at 7.30 p.m.
St. Leonard’s A.F.C., based in Ballycullane, commissioned the book to mark its milestone anniversary.
The launch will precede a dinner dance which the organisers hope will have past and current members of the club attending.
The event will take place in the Horse & Hound, Ballinaboola and the Guest of Honour on the night will be FAI Chief Executive, John Delaney.
Following the launch of the book dinner will be served at 8.30 p.m. sharp. A very significant aspect to the night will be the announcement of the ‘Legends of St. Leonards’ which will feature a selection composed of past and present players as picked by the public and a panel of judges.
“This side is deemed to have been the best to represent the club over the period 1972-2012,” said a spokesperson for the club. Music on the night will be provided by Route 66. Tickets for the event, priced €25, are available from club members.
