A MOTORIST has been seriously injured in a major crash on the Wexford to Rosslare road.

The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. today at Assaly, Killinick, between a lorry and a car.

It is understood a male occupant of the car was seriously injured and taken to Wexford General Hospital for treatment.

Emergency services arrived and the area where the accident took place was sealed off for forensic examination.

A Garda spokesperson said there are major tailbacks on the Rosslare road, adding that traffic is being diverted down towards Broadway, where traffic is also very heavy.

The Echo understands that another person was also injured in the crash.
