TWO OF Ireland’s brightest young singing stars are set to perform in Enniscorthy later this month.

Joanne McCabe, from Clonroche, and Elspeth Hayes, from the Rower, will team up for the official launch of Ms. McCabe’s CD, ‘Send Me A Song’, on March 24, in the Presentation Centre.

The evening will feature an eclectic mix of  Classical and Irish Favourites.

The night will also feature other traditional and classical musicians from the County Wexford School of Music.

In addition to being a performer Ms. McCabe is also a singing teacher. Her new ‘Irish song’ album is timely given the time of the year. The album was recorded last year when Joanne was singing in America for St. Patrick’s week.

Some of her recent music commitments saw her perform with a wide range of acts including New Ross Musical Society, Enniscorthy Musical Society and Oyster Lane Theatre Group.

She is also back threading the boards preparing to play Mabel in Kilkenny Musical Society’s production of ‘Pirates of Penzance’.

Ms. Hayes is a graduate of Exeter University where she received a BA (Hons) in Music and German. However, she has made Co. Kilkenny her home and is involved with many local choirs. She has performed at some of the country’s foremost venues and with the country’s top choral ensembles including Christchurch Cathedral Choir, the RTE Philharmonic Choir and with the chamber choir, In Caelo.

Both singers have performed in many of Ireland’s most prestigious venues including Wexford Opera House, the National Concert Hall and University Concert Hall, Limerick.

The forthcoming concert in Enniscorthy will focus on light classical and popular crossover ballads as well as some beautiful duets. Tickets, priced €12, are available from The Presentation Centre (053-9233000) or by calling 086-1073841 or 087-2902146. ‘Send me a Song’ is also available from Whites for Music, Wexford.
