A WELL-known local businesswoman is in a stable condition at Wexford General Hospital having been injured in a major accident on the N25.

The woman, (who is in her 70s), was driving at Assaly, Killinick near the Danby Lodge when the accident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Echo understands the other vehicle involved in the accident was a Wexford County Council lorry.

The woman suffered series injuries and was rushed to hospital.

“Things are looking a lot better now than they were on Wednesday,” a Garda spokesperson said.

The area where the accident took place was sealed off for forensic examination.

A Garda spokesperson said there were major tailbacks on the Rosslare road, adding that traffic was diverted down towards Broadway, where traffic remained heavy for the afternoon.

Meanwhile one man had to be cut from a car at Kyle Cross, Crossabeg, on March 18, following a two vehicle accident at 4:15 p.m.

There were four people in one of the cars and two in the other. A spokesperson said nobody was seriously injured in the crash.
