ONE OF Ireland’s foremost pianists will give an intimate performance in the south east on Thursday, April 4, at 8 p.m.

The venue will be the magnificent Large Room of Waterford’s City Hall.

Philip Martin is a renowned composer and the night will feature an eclectic programme of romantic and jazzy pieces from his repertoire.

‘Visions of the Night’ is what he had in mind when composing his ‘Nocturnes’ and ‘New York Nights’ which reflect the hustle and bustle of the city that never sleeps. However, those attending the concert can also look forward to hearing some of classical music’s most famous works including Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’ and Mendelssohn’s, ‘Fantasia’.

The audience can also expect to hear the likes of Moore’s, ‘The Last Rose of Summer’, and three of Chopin’s beautiful waltzes.

Among the other famous composers who works will be aired during the concert will be Gershwin and Gottschalk.

Tickets, priced €15, and €5 (students), will be available on the door.
