LAKE REGION Medical Ltd. has been granted permission for a major expansion to its factory on the outskirts of New Ross.
With the expansion likely to see a much needed jobs boost for the town the news will be welcomed by everyone in the community.
The application for the extension was lodged with Wexford Co. Council in March. The plans were given the thumbs up by the local authority towards the end of last month.
The expansion will include a new 8,153 sq metre two-storey extension to the front and side of the existing production facility.
There will be new louvre screening to the plant located on the new roof. Once completed the work will see the development of a new reception area with a two-story link corridor to the front of the existing building.
A new single-storey utility building will be developed to the rear of the premises forming a new services compound.
There will also be a new site entrance to the west of the site and the existing façade of the building will be altered to ‘complement’ the new extension.
New surface car parking facilities will replace car spaces lost through the proposed work while 50 additional new spaces will be provided.
A new 2.4 metre high security railing will also be installed to match the existing security measures at the site.
Lake Region Medical Ltd. is the single largest employer in the New Ross area and news that it is to expand comes in the wake of a very positive period for the town which saw the re-development of the quay-front and the completion of the new state-of-the-art swimming pool and leisure complex.
