THE SHOCK closure of btw, baths, tiles and woodfloors, based in Kerlogue Industrial Estate, led to over 15 local customers being left fearful that they would never see the goods they paid for.

The business run by Wexford Ceramics Ltd., (which employed three people full time and was owned by Paul Doyle), closed suddenly on Wednesday, having accepted full payment for goods.

A notice on the btw website said the business had ceased trading.

Paul Kinsella from Castlebridge said he and one of his neighbours bought €1,000 of goods from btw, Wexford, between them in late April, but feared they would never get the items.

“We were fuming and we’d booked the tiler to come to our homes,” he said.

Mr. Kinsella and all btw Wexford customers received good news Monday)afternoon after MD of btw, Niall McGarry said everyone who purchased goods at the store will get them.

“We’ll take it on the chin and hopefully we’ll get some goodwill out of it,” he said, confirming that 15 people had contacted the company about their losses so far.

Mr. McGarry said: “The unfortunate thing is that they did trade actively until late April and there were a few people who paid substantial deposits. Ordinarily they would be out of pocket, but we are not going to allow that.

“We put a number on the door (045 981750) and put our contact information. We will ensure these people get their tiles etc. Everybody who has paid btw will be looked after.”

Mr. McGarry said he is hopeful the 5,000sq ft premises will be taken over by another businessperson. He attributed the closure of the business to a gradual slow down in sales in recent years.
