Courtown Lifeboat was called out this afternoon to a report of a speedboat with engine starting problems.

Courtown volunteer lifeboat crew launched at 15:09 this afternoon and the casualty boat was located just off Ardamine beach with 7 persons on board.

The engine problem was traced to a faulty battery and the lifeboat towed the casualty boat back to Courtown Harbour, where a new battery was waiting to be fitted.

The casualty then continued on its way and Courtown Lifeboat returned to the station.
