Lee Chin has been named in the subs for the Wexford senior footballers’ All-Ireland Qualifier away to Longford on Saturday, when county minor and under-21 hurling attacker Conor McDonald will be among the senior hurling squad for their make-or-break championship duel against Clare at Thurles.
Chin was a concern for the under-21 hurlers’ great midweek Leinster final win over Kilkenny as he nursed a knee problem. He received further attention to that knee on Thursday, and consequently his actual availability for the weekend remains something of a mystery.
Naomh Éanna teenager McDonald, meanwhile, contributed healthily to the under-21 hurlers’ success after being drafted in from the minors, and, indeed, he together with Niall Murphy applied the pressure which resulted in the own-goal that snatched Wexford’s first Leinster title in the grade since 2002.
