THE FAMILY of murdered Curracloe girl Nicola Furlong have initiated legal proceedings against the hotel where she was killed, alleging that there was a breach of care to their daughter.
Nicola Furlong was murdered in a hotel room at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo after attending a music concert in June of last year.
The man charged with her murder, US musician Richard Hinds was sentenced to between five and ten years in prison in March of this year.
Speaking over the weekend, Andrew Furlong, Nicola’s father said that they wanted to get the message across to hotels around the world that what happened to his daughter should never allowed to happen to anyone anywhere.
The family has secured the service of a barrister in the UK to take an action for liability for their daughter’s death against the parent company of the Keio Plaza Hotel. A letter has been sent to the company to advise them of legal proceedings taking place.
It is understood that the legal team has requested CCTV footage of Nicola being brought unconscious by staff of the hotel to the room on the night of her murder.
