NEW ROSS has opened its first official youth café style initiative in one of the most historically significant buildings in the town.

Last Thursday a large crowd gathered in the Shambles in Mary Street to witness the opening of the premises as a youth café.

Min. Frances Fitzgerald was in attendance to mark the occasion and she congratulated everyone involved in bringing about such an important facility for young people in the town and surrounding areas.

The County Wexford Comhairle Na N’Og (CNN) worked on the project for the last eight years in conjunction with Ferns Diocesan Youth Service (FDYS), Youth New Ross, New Ross CDP, Wexford County Council, New Ross Town Council and County Wexford VEC.

Mr Kieran Donohoe, CEO of FDYS said the opening was “a very important step in the development of services in the New Ross area”.

He congratulated the CNN for never giving up on trying to bring such a facility to New Ross.
