FIREBRIGADE CREWS from Enniscorthy, Wexford, Wicklow and Kilkenny rushed to a major fire in Castledockerell yesterday afternoon.

The fire started in Springvale and spread to neighbouring farms where it set ablaze hundreds of acres of corn stubble.

There were major traffic diversions but the blaze was brought under control after 6 p.m.

It is not known how the fire was started but luckily no-one was injured.
