A YOUNG Enniscorthy woman was left distraught at the weekend when she discovered her car had been badly damaged by an unknown perpetrator.

The 20-year-old, who wishes to remain unnamed, awoke early for work on Sunday morning and looked out her bedroom window when she got a nasty shock.

Her Toyota Yaris, which she has only owned for a year, was not in her driveway in her Ashbrook home, causing her to frightfully run downstairs.

When she got outside, she noticed her vehicle was three or four metres down the road with considerable damage.

After further inspection, she noted the side passenger panel had been crashed into, along with the front bumper, bonnet and passenger head light.

The woman rang a family member to come up as she began to panic and in the meantime spotted blue paint on the car which she believes belonged to the vehicle that hit it.

She also thinks the incident occurred between 12.30 and 2.00 a.m.

At about 7.45 a.m she rang Enniscorthy Garda Station to explain what happened, and a garda came to the house to take a statement.

An investigation is now being held on the matter, with gardai appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The upset woman told The Echo: “I am absolutely devastated – I really rely on the car as I work four/five days in Wexford so I have to travel there every day.”
