Business was disrupted when the Riverside Park Hotel at Enniscorthy was evacuated for a time today as three units of the fire brigade tackled a fire in an overgrown garden at the rear of the hotel.
The incident came to light shortly after 2 pm when the fire alarm system was triggered in the hotel.
A large number of people, including guests who had arrived for the annual Conference of International Investors which takes place at the hotel all this week, were asked to leave the premises as part of the safety procedures at the hotel.
There was no sign of panic and nobody was in danger as the area where the outbreak occurred had been sealed off by the emergency services.
Fire fighters got the fire under control very quickly, but there was concern about the fire spreading to the hotel and foam was spread on the roof of the restaurant.
Normal Sunday business returned at the hotel after about half and hour.
