AN TAOISEACH Enda Kenny, who officially opened the annual conference of the Council of International Investigators (C.I.I), said the event will create a boost of tourism to the town.
The Taoiseach was the esteemed guest at the opening ceremony in the Riverside Park Hotel last Thursday morning, and said he was thrilled to be back in Enniscorthy once more.
“I’ve been in Enniscorthy and CountyWexford many a time and it’s great to be back – we would bring the children holidaying down here when they were small,” he told The Echo.
Speaking about the town hosting a huge international conference, which involved members of the C.I.I from 18 different countries, Mr. Kenny said it was hugely positive: “When people go back to Vietnam, or Sweden, or the USA, we hope they bring a little piece of ourselves with them. Maybe when they’re stuck in traffic in BrooklynBridge they might think “Gee, I wish I was back in Wexford!”
He added: “You’re in Enniscorthy, a wonderful place in genuinely the sunniest county in Ireland. It’s fantastic to be here on this beautiful autumn’s day with such a great example of international connection and such good ambassadors.”
