A man was arrested in connection with a number of burglaries carried out in a number of houses at Meadowgate, Gorey, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Gardaí were called to the scene after a person was woken up and saw somebody trying to take a car. The man ran away.

Other houses were burgled while the occupants were away and only discovered their misfortune on their return.

The male partner of a couple who recently moved into a house in the estate was arrested and taken to Gorey Garda Station for questioning.

Most of the property has been recovered.

It included household goods and items such as laptops, Ipads, and play stations.
