Trish Tyrrell (nee Browne) of Mullinagore, Castlebridge, was described by Fr Walter Forde as someone who “lit the flame of education in the hearts of the young” at her Funeral Mass in Bride Street Church last Friday.
Through her work as Educational Psychologist with the Department of Education, Trish worked tirelessly to ensure that young people remained in education.
Trish was originally from Bishopswater and grew up over Browne’s Bar, which her parents the late Margret (Peggy) and the late James Browne ran for many years. After completing her Leaving Certificate at Loreto Convent she went on to study psychology to postgraduate level at University College Dublin.
Shortly after she qualified as an Educational Psychologist she began work with the Department of Education.
Trish was the beloved mother of two daughters Zoe (27) and Kate (24).
Speaking this week Kate described her mother’s strength as “formidable” and said that even as she battled a terminal illness she remained positive and upbeat.
