
THE TRIAL of an Enniscorthy man charged with the murder of a father-of-two in 2011 began today (Tuesday) at Dublin’s Central Criminal Court.
Michael Furlong (35) of Apartment 5, Meadowfield, The Moyne appeared before the court yesterday (Monday), charged with the unlawful killing of Patrick ‘Shockers’ Connors on a date unknown between April 28 and 29 of 2011, at Carraig Tur apartments in Enniscorthy.
He was originally charged with the offence at Enniscorthy District Court on January 18, 2012, when a plea of not guilty was recorded.
In court yesterday, he was arraigned in front of Mr. Justice Barry White and a jury of seven men and five women. The trial is due to start at 11 a.m. today and is expected to last approximately three weeks.
An estimated 50 witnesses will take the stand with members of the Gardai, the Garda Forensics Team, medical professionals and local witnesses called on to give evidence of the incident.
