WEXFORD APPEARS to be making the most of the tourist market, if recent figures released by Fáilte Ireland are anything to go by.

Figures released for 2012 show that, for the first time in ten years, Wexford had the highest number of visitors from overseas with 229,000 visiting the county, and earning the county a total of €65 million, an increase of over 50% from the previous year.

Commenting on the figures, Chairperson of Visit Wexford, Peter Wilson said: “These figures speak for themselves really, we are thrilled to have such a great number of visitors coming and spending in Wexford and even more thrilled that this figure is growing. We put a huge amount of time and effort into building, growing and communicating the tourism products of Wexford through the Visit Wexford tourism group and we are all delighted to see this reap the rewards.”
