Stephen Dee

Popular South East Radio presenter, Stephen Dee.

There was an eerie silence and floods of tears as they lowered the coffin of Stephen Dee into his final resting place in his home churchyard at Faithlegg, beside the Barrow estuary in Waterford this morning.

The 47 year old who passed away suddenly at his home last Thursday night, just a few hours after he finished his daily shift, was the easily recognised friendly voice that greeted early morning listeners to South East Radio.

His full name was Stephen Doherty, but went by the name Stephen Dee and he joined the original South East Radio team of presenters when the station first went on the air in October, 1989.

From the moment news of his death was announced on the airwaves on Friday morning the station was inundated with messages of sadness and tribute, testimony to the high esteem in which the chirpy character was held by his listeners.

South East Radio’s Managing Director Eamonn Buttle and Company Director Norman Buttle have expressed their deepest sympathy’s to his family and friends.
